Earth Pressure Balance
In fine soils with low water permeability an EPB system can be the right choice. The excavated soil gathers in the excavation chamber and, together with the advancing force of the machine, it builds the support pressure. The soil is being transported out of the excavation chamber by screw conveyor and is then brought to the launching shaft by conveyor belts or lorries. This method is very economic, especially when it comes to long tunnel distances.

mts2000EPB Hybrid
mts Hybrid machines are suitable for pipe jacking and segmental lining projects. When there is no possibility for building a rescue shaft, the mts Hybrid can be switched to segmental mode and the tunnel can be finished. The mts Hybrid is also available as an upgrade for an existing mts2000 Slurry or EPB system.
